The warm Sicilian sea is rich with subaquatic life, giving travellers, and specifically divers, yet another reason to visit the beautiful island. Here groupers and breams live amongst coral studded ancient ruins, sponges line the walls and caves, and underwater treasures lie around every corner. Nowhere is this truer than at Taormina, a charming and chic town perched atop Mount Taormina where ancient history, modern culture and the timeless sea coincide in reside sync. The area is home to several world famous dive sites in the beautiful marine protected area of Isola Bella, as well as the Blue Cave and Capo Taormina.

The Blue Sea Diving centre in the stunning Mazzaro Bay is just five minutes from all of these remarkable natural wonders and organises scuba diving tours or snorkelling tours to 16 sites in the Ionian Sea, making it the perfect base from which to explore during your trip. These sites have been expertly chosen by the centre’s expert PADI certified instructors for their remarkable unique features and easy access, meaning that even beginner Open Water divers can experience some of the best locations the Mediterranean has to offer. Expert instructors Paolo and Cristina will accompany you as you explore the beautiful underwater world, guiding you to the most interesting spots and keeping you safe during the dive.

With a range of diving options on offer and a diverse range of locations, from the tunnels of Isola Bella to the long wall above the beautiful Blue Cave to the ruins of Greek columns at the bottom of Capo Taormina to the Mermaid Rock which challenges divers to reach the limits of recreational diving the centre has something for everyone. Their Discover Scuba Diving program covers diving theory followed by a shallow water session in which you will learn the fundamental skills which will give you more and more confidence in the water and with the equipment.  When you are comfortable diving you can embark upon your first true dive and discover the new sensations that diving offers as well as the colourful sponges, hard seaweed, shoals of breams, golden lines, large groupers, moray eels and shy octopus that are typical of the Mediterranean. For divers hoping to gain a new certification the centre also offers dive courses that take you to Open Water level and up to Divemaster. These courses are spread over the course of several days and cover both the theory and practical elements of diving. Finally for those that would like to sample the beauty of the underwater world but cannot dive the centre offers snorkelling tours – a simple, fun and social way to explore the underwater world – and the marine park of Isola Bella and the bay of Blue Cave are both favourite spots with local snorkelers.
